New Pokémon TCG Set ‘Pokemon Card 151’ Revealed in Japan

The Pokémon Company has officially revealed their latest expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) called ‘Pokemon Card 151’. The set features the first 151 Pokémon in Pokedex order, including Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Mew ex, Alakazam ex, and more.

The announcement was made during the Champions League 2023 tournament in Japan, and the set is set to release in Japan on June 16th, 2023. It will have a total of 165 cards before Art Rare, Super Art Rare, and Secret Rares, and will cost 290 yen per booster pack, which contains 7 cards.

The set marks the return of Kadabra after 21 years, which was previously not used in the TCG after Uri Geller sued Pokemon over the Pokemon’s likeness to his persona. However, Geller changed his mind in late 2020 and relinquished his control of Kadabra.

New cards included in the set are Alakazam ex with Kadabra, Mew ex, and possibly Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, and Blastoise ex. The card numbers reflect their Pokedex number, so it’s likely we’ll see all of the Generation 1 Pokemon here.

It’s still unknown if this set will be released as a special holiday set outside of Japan but we are certain this will be coming to the UK at some point. Stay tuned for more updates!
